Game 1
RiverWanderer (Macedonian) # 6
Soul1st (Greek) # 1
Confident Hoplites soon formed up and made an imposing assault against the Macedonian right. Macedonian heavy infantry countered the move and, aided by a First Strike, sent the Greeks reeling back, worse from the uneven melees. From there the Macedonians had the initiative and a late attack by Alexander's Companion cavalry helped to complete their victory.
An early and unremitting clash of the main infantry forces, which resolved the game quickly.
Game 2
Soul1st (Macedonian) # 4
RiverWanderer (Greek) # 6
The initial skirmishing soon gave way to a Macedonian advance in the centre, with a spearhead of heavy infantry double-timing into the vulnerable Greek line. The coordinated battles soon claimed banners but enough of the Greek formation survived to give a riposte, gradually causing the Macedonians to fall back and consolidate with reinforcements from their left flank. Both sides by now had weakened units, hoping to survive the next attack and get another chance to hit back or escape. The Greek force tended towards their left, where Macedonians were weaker and less of a threat. At banners 4:5 to the Greeks, Alexander at last emerged with his companions on the hunt for lone Greek units. Just in time for the Greeks, a lucky shot from their Light Infantry, caught Epaminondas and denied Alexander his chance.
This game had more cut and thrust but again Alexander was late to the fray and most of the action was in the left and centre.
Thanks to my opponent, Twan (Soul1st).
