Congrats to Max, and his big finish to come from 8th place (also determined by points countback), convincing win versus 1st place in the Quarter finals, another close win on blocks tiebreaker in the Semi-Finals and then to win the championship!!!

Just goes to show that every block counts, let alone banners!

Finals Aspern - Essling (Day 1 Essling) - Game 1
Viridovilas (Austrian) 9 - lost blocks 29
Jfardette (French) 5 - lost blocks 42

Austrians opened with a cavalry charge on their right flank that almost wiped out the French left. Lannes countered attacking in the centre with scarce success, then redeployed on his left but without his cavalry units he was simply outnumbered by Rosenberg forces

Finals Aspern - Essling (Day 1 Essling) - Game 1
Viridovilas (French) 5 - lost blocks 32
Jfardette (Asutrian) 9 - lost blocks 38

After a few ranged skirmishes in the centre, this time Austrians moved forward on their left but the French, adopting a defensive stance, repulsed Rosenberg first attack. The Habsburg General then smartly manoeuvred massing a huge force in his centre that managed to pull off Lannes forces from their granary stronghold.

Again, a battle was resolved by mere block differentials. C&C system at its best. Thanks to all my great opponents of this tournament.
