Match 1

Gileforn (Russian)
 1 banners won

Javelinthrower (French) 8 banners won

Extremely lucky game for French. Good cards, reasonably good dice, unreasonably bad dice for the opponent. The only banner scored was a city banner.
Basically the French managed to maneuvre the infantry in a good way for a Force March followed by Bayonet charge, nd since a lot of shooting preceded that, and add to this my luck...

Match 2

Javelinthrower (Russian)
 4 banners won

Gileforn (French)  8 banners won

IMO opinion, my luck was not that great this time, but my opponent might disagree :) In any case, there was a lot of good fighting on the Russians' side, but Gileforn had all the cards for the centre, where French were strong, and continued pushing, while I got left with flank cards, which I didn't know when or how to use, and special cards which also were IMO situational. When on the left French flank the cavalry engaged Russian infantry, two cards were wasted on squares, fatally limiting Russian pool of options. Eventually the units also bled dry and even cities were lost. Alas. Very consistent fighting and good tactics on the French part.

Match 1

Jim (Russian) # 5

Joe (French) # 8

Joe started out by doing a nice job of getting his artillery into a strong center position and shooting up my cavalry. We exchanged blows in the center of the map for a while with Joe getting the better of it and eventually overwhelming my right wing, taking a town from my garrison for the final banner.

Match 2

Joe (Russian) # 7

Jim (French) # 8

We started this game but were unable to finish. My French had two of his units in square to severely restrict Joe's card options, and I had a hand full of good cards including 3 Take Command cards and Forward. We called it a game due to time constraints, with a negotiated outcome that seemed fair to both sides, Joe who won the initial game while still acknowledging my strong position in game 2. So 2 points for Joe, 1 for me on banner differential.

Not sure why there's that emoji there, at least on my screen - it should read 5-8!

Round 4, Game 2, Heilsberg.

Michal W, Allies. 5 banners taken, 35 blocks lost.

Steve T, French. 8 banners taken, 21 blocks lost.

Michal will report the first game. In this one, my French cavalry defeated the Russian cavalry on the French left, then forced some of the Russian infantry into squares that were then slowly ground down by the French grenadiers who were brought up as reserves. This French attack was finally halted by accurate Russian musketry from Lanwiese (score 4-6, with the Russians having 2 unit banners and 2 town banners). The French centre then advanced with elan, occupying an empty town hex and each side losing 1 unit to end the game (5-8). Thanks to Michal for two tough games!

round4

match1 rjvonline france 8
              RiverWanderer russie 6

A brutal fight mainly, in the centre, with Russian cavalry preserved until late on. Once the French attack gained momentum, the Russians took heavy loses, barely denting the French but holding onto Langweise - Bevernick.

match2  RiverWanderer france 8
              rjvonline  russie 4

French cavalry dominated the left-centre in the early stages, not without sacrifice. Gradually, the French army shifted leftwards to follow up the cavalry and then their attack directed towards the squared Russians and back towards Bevernick. A mid-game Russian leader loss hastened the end.

Match 1
Kandras78 (Russian) 3 banners
Mark McG (French) 8 banners

With the Right flank closed, I found it very difficult to get the Centre section moving. In the event the majority of the work was done by the French cavalry and 1 artillery unit. I think just 2 French infantry managed to join the battle. Russians scored for 1 Light Cavalry, and 2 villages.

Match 2
Mark McG (Russian) 2 banners
Kandras78 (French) 8 banners

With two Forced Marches, the French could roll all their infantry over the village, virtually unoppossed. Russians scored for 1 Light Cavalry, and 1 village.
