Hasty Square

The restriction on squares is you cannot hold less that two command cards, and since Hasty square requires no Command card, it is a free, and additional square. Typically I use Square 6 counter to mark the Hasty Square.

The card pictured is First Strike instead of Hasty Square.

I have always assumed this card extends the allowed number of squares by one, so that with initial command of five, four squares are allowed instead of the usual three as long as the hastily squared unit remains in square.
