- Terrain has no effect on movement, unless it is impassable
- Leaders retreat 1-3 hexes
- A leader can retreat off the battlefield through a baseline hex. The enemy does not get a flag but the leader is removed from the game.
- Seppuku – A leader can commit seppuku instead of retreating. The player whose leader kills himself like this gains 5 Honor but loses 1 Command Card at random. The opposing player does not gain a victory banner but does draw a free Dragon card.
- Circle and Triangle units lose 1 Honor and Fortune per hex when they retreat
- Square units lose 2 Honor and Fortune per hex when they retreat
- A leader adds +1 per hex to the number of Honor and Fortune lost
- A leader alone loses 3 Fortune and Honor when forced to retreat, regardless of how many hexes they retreat

Losing Honor and Fortune
- If a unit cannot retreat, in addition to the hits scored does it lose Honor and Fortune per hex it should have retreated?
o (RB) When a unit cannot retreat one hit is scored on the unit for each retreat hex it cannot complete. Honor and fortune tokens are only lost for each hex a unit retreats.
