Using the old BattleLore EPIC boards to create a battlefield of 17x13 hexes, divided into 3 sections

EPIC Play
During each turn's Command phase, a Commander may either:
• Play up to two Section or Leadership cards. Each Leadership card can be inspired independantly by use on an Inspired Action token. Different Inspired Actions may be chosed in the event of two Leadership cards being played. No unit or Leader may be ordered twice.
OR
• Play a single Troop or Tactic card.
• First Strike and Ambush are played in reaction to enemy actions normally.
• Counterattack may be used to counter 1 card, and is treated as that card for play limit purposes

At the end of the turn, the Commander draws 1 or 2 Command cards to their Command limit and any gained Inspired Action tokens. When drawing after playing a Scout card , draw 3 Command cards and choose 2.

EPIC Manzikert outcome was Seljuks won 9-8

The Byzantines pushed forwards pushing back the Seljuk wings, and there was a significant clash on the Byzantine left that escalated until most of the Byzantine wing was destroyed, and much of the Seljuks. The Seljuks came up in the Centre, but were repelled after a disappointing Fire & Close. Here the melee became general, with the Seljuks pulling ahead 8-4, but a counter attack by the Byzantine heavy cavalry pulled out 4 banners in a row, and they teetered on the edge of victory. It wasn't to be, and the Seljuks managed the final banner next turn.

Final dispositions, the Byzantine Right has barely moved, despite some skirmishing.
