Game 1
MjrCatastrophe (French) 7 banners
Jaboskov (Allies) 3 banners

After some initial maneuverings the French opened with an infantry assault on their right. This gained them two flags but was halted by a Russian cavalry counter attack. Both sides fell back to tend to their wounded. Fouconnet made a gallant but unsupported charge on the French left and was killed in action along with the cavalry he was leading for no real gain. Meanwhile the French infantry in the center was slowly advancing into position. An Austrian cavalry attack on the French left was brought to a crashing halt by devastating French artillery fire. At this point it was three flags a piece. Two back to back bayonet charges by the French grenadiers in the center proved to be unstoppable and gave the French victory.

Game 2
Jaboskov (French) 7 banners
MjrCatastrophe (Allies) 3 banners

Most of the action was on the Allies left and center-left. Lots of attacks and counterattacks eventually broke in favor of the French. The Allies responded with powerful cavalry attacks on the French left and center, forcing 3 squares and eliminating a few units. The French light moved left from the right flank to close out the game.

Grateful for fun games with a good person.

Note: had trouble with log for second game

Game 1
Greg O (French) 7 Banners
Andras Kopcsik (Allies) 1 Banner1

The first action was an Allied GRZ stepping forward in the center and he was met my a LC,GR, and FA and eliminated. BOth sides formed lines in the left and center and the French moved in with an Elan, wounding an Allied HC and LC but the French LC was then cut off and surrounded buy three Allied units who threw 13 dice without a single hit. The battle raged, mostly on the left and left part of the center section for the remainder of the battle. The Allies had terrible luck and Mars favored France in this battle. Andras was a good sport during a one-sided affair, but he will have his vengeance one day soon I am certain, as he's a great player.

Game 2

Grecian Formula (French) 7

A good advance of the French on the right while the Austrian cavalry dominated the battlefield on the left. An initial French lead in medals is tied thanks to an Allied cavalry charge. The game is 6-6 but a nasty Infantry combat first card is fatal to the Allies looking for their last medal. I have to report troubles with the module during the game. Disappearing cards from the French hand and extra cards in the Allies hand. As usual, no clear where the bug is.

Game 1
jfardette (Allies) # 7
RiverWanderer (French) # 5

A even struggle throughout, with the French pushing hard against the Allied left flank whilst flailing in the face of an Allied assault focussed on the opposite flank. The French lost the race, though came close, holding back one or two Leadership card plays to the last moment but whiffing in two of four crucial combats. Allies delivered the coup-de-grace with a Bayonet Charge to take 2 banners and Victory.

Game 2
RiverWanderer (Allies) # 7
jfardette (French) # 2

After some early progress for Allied reinforcements, the French grasped an opportunity to strike out with Grenadiers against Allied skirmishers on their Left flank. However, whilst the Grenadiers forced a battered Grenzer unit back and snagged Prince Hohenlohe in the process , they themselves became embroiled by cavalry which, given the disposition of forces, gave the Allies an opening to dominate the flank; Lady Luck resisting the efforts of French cavalry to assist and a French leader also falling. Meanwhile, with the banner line at 4:2 to the Allies, the French threat to the Allied left flank had started to build when reinforcements arrived to award Victory to the Allies.

Round 3 Game 2

Rand – French – 7 Banners – 16 blocks lost (includes one block rallied)
Maxjoezach – Allies – 1 Banner – 26 blocks lost + Leader of Honour Bagration flees from the field

The French start with a forced march on their right flank, moving three light infantry units and a French Foot Artillery towards the weakly held Allied left section. They are able to quickly overwhelm the Russian Light Infantry deployed in the wood line, destroying one and pushing the other back to the baseline with heavy casualties. The Russians attempt to maneuver units from their center to the endangered left section, with the Leader of Honour Bagration moving to join a Russian Line Infantry there. The French roll 4 infantry on an Elan card in combination with a Leader unit reform that brings a French Light up to full strength and cause slight damage to the Allies as they continue their aggressive march on the Allied Left. Bagration counters with a move along the baseline to try to turn back the French, but a fumbled attack leaves his unit open for a battle back which forces Bagration to flee the battlefield. The French play a second Elan card and are soon up 4 banners to zero with no Allied units left on their right flank. The Allies try to reposition, while the French gamble on a Leadership card, which moves the Russian reinforcement marker but allows 5 French leader led units to attack all across the front lines causing heavy damage and forcing a Russian Grenadier unit into square. The Austrian calvary then launch a charge into the French Left, but the French play Leader orders a Fall Back. A recon in force combined with a break the square catches a Russian Grenadier off guard, capturing a banner. The Austrians are able to then force three French units into square and destroy a French Light Calvary. A Grande Manoeuvre allows the French to push forward fresh infantry units and the next turn, a heavily damaged Russian Grenadier unit is finished off for the seventh banner.

My thanks to Doug for the two games and being a gentleman to play against. Look forward to playing him again. Best of luck to him in the rest of the tournament.

Round 3 Game 1 – Amstetten, November 5 1805

Rand – Allies – 7 banners – 22 blocks lost (this includes 2 blocks rallied)
Maxjoezach – French – 4 banners + 1 Cossack unit - 33 blocks lost + One French Leader lost

A peppering of grapeshot by Russian artillery causes French causalities, though French Light infantry aggressively advance on the right flank. An early forced march by the French is countered by Austrian calvary charging forward to smash into the French lines, forcing a Grenadier unit into square. The French Light cut their way through the poorly defended Russian Left flank, the lack of a Mother Russia Roll limiting the units positioned there.
The Austrian calvary shifts its attack to a second Grenadier unit, who after refusing to join into square, nearly destroys two Light Calvary units in two separate battle backs. The French counter, finishing off one Light Calvary, but leaving one of their own calvary overextended, which is heavily damaged. The calvary of both sides continue skirmishing across the center section, leaving the French leading 4 banners to none. An Austrian Grenzer unit cuts down a full-strength French Grenadier unit in one volley, and from there the momentum of the battle changes hands. The French general is hampered by numerous Scout cards in his hand, combined with unlucky dice. In comparison, the Allied player again has the same Grenzer unit cut down a French unit in one volley, this time a Horse Artillery. The French attempt to rally with an ineffective artillery bombardment, but an Allied assault in the center destroys a French Grenadier, finishes off a Light Calvary and kills a French general during a leader check. With Russian reinforcements on the edge of the village of Amstetten, a final Fire and Hold command by the Allies causing massive damage all along the French line, with a Russian Artillery hitting on 3 dice to score the final banner on a 3 block French Grenadier.
The French end the game with three Scout cards, two held since the beginning of the game. Allies had decent cards all game, and halfway through the match, their dice luck was unworldly.

Thanks to Doug for the game.

The French advance on the right. The Allies launch a cavalry charge on their right/centre, with the French losing one LC. The French reply with Counter-Attack against the blown Allied cavalry…the Allies lose 2x LC, 1x Cu, and 1x HA. Disaster: 4-1! The rest of the battle follows the steady French Cavalry/Line/Grenadier advance in the Centre against the Austrian Grenzers, who are supported by the remaining Allied LC, and Russian Grenadiers and FA. Final score 7-4, a well played victory to the French.

Aside from the French obliterating the Allied right with their light units, this turned into a cavalry fight. Unfortunately for the French, the Allies had 3 cavalry charges. 9 out of the 12 units lost were either cavalry or an attached leader. The Austrian heavy cuirassier unit functioned more like a tank. Mark was also playing with an almost full hand of scout cards for most of the game.

French close on their right, Russians withdraw and turtle. Now French left and Russian right maneuver until multiple cav charges with bad luck for the French. Several units lost, favoring Allies. A final leadrship card with good dice and the 3 VPs put Allies over the top.

Within the first several turns, Allies very accurate on missile fire and roll double swords twice on ldr. French dealt 4 scouts and leadership cards in the first 4 rounds. They went ahead and played them, inevitable. Allies mass for Cav charge on right as French right force marches and kills and cripples several units, victory within sight, but Allied cav take fianl VP first.

Player 1, Allies, Gileforn, 3 banners. Player 2, French stephent, 7 banners.
The French begin by probing the right flank. Allies respond by attack centre, with Inf, Grenadiers and Foot Art moving forward in triangle formation. French respond with a Flank Attack – on the right, Ruffin commanding Light moves further into the forests, shooting at the opposing Russian light who flee to the rear, and medium range canon fire has no effect; on the left, Light Cav and Horse Art walk forwards. The Allies walk LC from the centre to their Right, and medium range cannon fire misses the Grenadiers. The French move Forward: on the left Fauconnet with 2 units of Light Cav charge the Russian Light Cav (who are destroyed, then the Grenzers in the forests are forced into square) and the Horse Art (who suffer 2 blocks damage); on the Centre and Right, Grenadiers, Light, Light Cav move forward, with the latter charging with Combined arms and destroying the Russian Foot Art and then forcing the Line behind into square. Score 2-0. The Allies reply with Cavalry Charge, 2 units of Light Cav, one of Curassiers, and Cossacks charge forward on their right, destroying one unit of French Light Cav and forcing the other to flee, Fauconnet is killed. Victory was brief! 2-2. The French Attack Centre, with 2 units of Light Cav supported by Grenadiers – one unit of Allied Light Cav, previously victorious, are swept away, the remnants of the Russian Horse Art are destroyed and Nostitz’s adjacent Grenzers, deciding not to square up, are damaged. 4-2. The Allies Forced Marched Nostitz and his damaged Grenzers to the safety of Castle Edla while the Russian Grenadiers stormed forward at the victorious French in the Centre, supported by musket fire by the other Grenzer unit. The French light Cav were badly damaged, as were the French Grenadiers. The French replied with a further Flank Attack. On the Left, Horse Art and Light Cav attempted a combined arms attack against the Austrian Curassiers, but forgot about the Russian Cossacks who instead were destroyed by point blank cannon fire while the French Light Cav decided that the Russian Light Cav were easier targets, badly damaging them. On the Right, the Foot Art and Light Inf advanced. Here the French records of the battle cease (presumably destroyed during the campaign). Historians have reconstructed the Battle, on the French Left, each side lost a further unit of Light Cav, in the Centre the two damaged French Light Cav fled to the rear but the the French Grenadiers and Foot Artillery overcame the Allied Centre/Left with the further loss of one Russian Light and one Line. 7-3 in favour of France, aided by soem good rolls with the cavalry attack toweards the beginning

not sure about the multiple posting, but C&C.net often has a slow response time for me, so patience may be the key

I don't think you can delete your own posts, though you can edit them. Generally I post the report, and then edit to add the logfiles.
To delete requires Moderator permissions, which I don't have. I'll check to see who does and see if the duplicate posts can be deleted.

Amstetten – game 2

Player 1 – scipio1zama – Allies – 7 Banners

Player 2 – EZPickens – French - 2 banners

Both sides began the game with two Scout cards in hand, and the French soon drew a third – a very bad start for them, and a very good start for the Allies. Initial turns saw maneuvering and artillery fire – the first 6 French shots of counter-battery fire missed, while the Allies got 6 hits with their first 7 artillery shots, damaging three French infantry units (all three of which, though hors de combat, nonetheless survived the battle.)

Things started happening when the Allies drew two Cavalry Charge cards in a row. I moved Cav & HA units forward. John reacted by attacking with two of his Cav units first, doing some damage. The first Allied Cav Charge saw the Austrian LC eliminate a French LC and reduce the other one to 1 block, while the CU unit attacking the French HA ran into cannister fire, then completely blew the roll. The French were forced to play a Scout card, moving the Russian reinforcements within 1 hex of Amstetten, but enabling the French LN to eliminate the CU. The second Allied Cav Charge followed. This time it was the Austrian LC that blew the dice roll against the seemingly indestructible French HA, losing 2 blocks in return. The Russian LC did put the French LN into square, compounding the French card problems.

Things then went downhill quickly for the French John had to play another Scout card, and the Russian reinforcements arrived in Amstetten, giving me the three additional banners. I played a Forward card and was finally able to eliminate the 1-block French LC (and drive leader Fauconnet from the board) and also eliminate the LN that was in square. Finally, an Allied Force March in the center moved up two Austrian GRZ and two Russian GR that did some damage. The French were able to eliminate one of the GRZ and chase leader Nostitz back to Castle “Edla”, but the Russian GR eliminated the French LN for banner #7 and the win.

The Russian reinforcement “thumb on the scale” seemed a heavy presence, although it was perhaps unusual that so many Scout cards showed up so early in both of our games. John took it with good humor throughout – it is always a pleasure to join him on the battlefield.

at this stage (pre-Expansion 7), the only think we know about Leaders of Honor is they have a bonus affect on "Take Command" cards increasing the number of units activated

www.commandsandcolors.net/napoleonics/th...37-take-command.html

so that is the only implication for the tournament.

From the scenario special rule:

Bagration is a Leader of Honor

What does it imply?

Game 1
Greg O (Allies) 7 Banners
Andras Kopcsik (French) 4 Banners

The battle began with both sides moving into position, closing the gaps and establishing a line across the battlefield. A French bombard eliminated one of the precious Russian Grenadiers. The Allies responded with a Bayonet Charge causing a casualty but the French responded with a Forced March, pushing back the Allies but not eliminating a unit. The allies took advantage of the separation with a Fire and Hold whish eliminated a Grenadier and took another down to 1 block. The French played two leader unit reforms on two units but failed to recover any blocks. The French pushed on the left and lost another Gren in a battle back although the Allied right was in bad shape, and a Gran Man. refused that flank, getting some weak units out of danger. The French launched into the Allied HA and Austrian GRZ in melee but took them both to 1 block but they survived. The Allies struck back in the center with the CU, HA, and a LC, eliminating a French LC, leaving the CU exposed, who was then surrounded. The CU survived the first round of attacks, but not the second which also took another Allied GRZ down to 1 block. The Allies rallied both 1 block GRZ's who fell back and fired a volley that almost eliminated the French Grens. The Allies were able to eliminate two French Grens that were down to a single block to seal the victory.
