Game 1
jfardette (Allies) # 7
RiverWanderer (French) # 5
A even struggle throughout, with the French pushing hard against the Allied left flank whilst flailing in the face of an Allied assault focussed on the opposite flank. The French lost the race, though came close, holding back one or two Leadership card plays to the last moment but whiffing in two of four crucial combats. Allies delivered the coup-de-grace with a Bayonet Charge to take 2 banners and Victory.
Game 2
RiverWanderer (Allies) # 7
jfardette (French) # 2
After some early progress for Allied reinforcements, the French grasped an opportunity to strike out with Grenadiers against Allied skirmishers on their Left flank. However, whilst the Grenadiers forced a battered Grenzer unit back and snagged Prince Hohenlohe in the process , they themselves became embroiled by cavalry which, given the disposition of forces, gave the Allies an opening to dominate the flank; Lady Luck resisting the efforts of French cavalry to assist and a French leader also falling. Meanwhile, with the banner line at 4:2 to the Allies, the French threat to the Allied left flank had started to build when reinforcements arrived to award Victory to the Allies.
