Renaud and I finished the second leg of our QF match.  VLOG attached.

Jim Fardette - French - 7
Renaud Verlaque Russian - 2

Renaud and I finished up our match, with me taking the French this time.  French guns opened up early with an artillery barrage, hoping to catch the Russians before they could draw a counterattack with their 4 batteries.  Good shooting resulted in a pair of hits, weakening the Russian center.  Action then shifted to the right where the French had several good cards to play and drew a couple more, and just kept coming.  The rightmost hills were overrun, as was the Russian artillery.  To make matters more dire, the French were able to bring the GG up to the front line in a useful position, blocking counterattacks from the Russian center and generally dealing out damage to anyone unfortunate enough to come at them.

Renaud attempted to counter with a pair of Cavalry charges, but mixed dice and a couple of bounce flags mired them, and the French were able to Force March forward to put an end to things.

Is the Prussian artillery in Schleiz foot or horse? The scenario map shows foot but the unit summary shows horse.

Joe and I finished the second leg of our QF match.

John - French - 7
Joe - Russian - 5

The French pushed hard on the left, but missed with nearly everything for a couple of rounds. So Joe took the initiative with his cavalry, creating mayhem (and lots of French squares).
But the French got the left flank hill, and the cavalry finally ran out of steam, ending with a full strength Russian HC attacking a one block infantry in a town, missing, the inf hit on 1bb, and then killed the leader to win the game!
Downright weird.......

Well played over the two games Joe, and good luck in the SF.

Quaterfinals: Eylau, 2nd game.

Allies: Steve (StephenT); 1 banner
French: David Horts (Craterus); 7 banners

It has been a 3 sessions match, due to the hardness of the scenario and our different schedules. The first of them was characterized by a fight between the 6 artilleriy units in the field and several other units repositioning themselves on the map in order to find the best place for them to wait for the right cards to activate them. 

The second one was the day of the cavalries... and the bad luck for the russians. The charge of the french light cavs. was very succesfull, while the counterattacks, although very well run, weren't as harmful. Even a russian leader was killed, while a french one got off scot-free of all that mess...

The last day saw 2 LGM trying to reposition the weakened units on both sides, another russian leader killed and the allies trying to change their fate, but the french occupied the hill on the left flank and killed the cuirassiers in their last action to end the battle.

Thanks to Steve for both games and his patience with my slowness and my difficulties with the english language.

Games are played using Vassal. You can watch live online if you know when a game is on or, more usually, replay the log files posted on this site.To get started, download and install the Vassal program from vassalengine.org . Then download the C&C Nap module (v4.1) from the module page and open it from the Vassal program.

David Horts Gorriz vs. Jim Fardette

Game 1:
Fardette (French) - 5
Gorriz (Prussian) - 2

Game 1: Jim's French benefited from a good initial card draw, including the LGM, and seized the town on turn 1.  As David's Prussians began their retreat, but a French Cavalry Charge, Take Command and Bayonet Charge applied too much pressure and the Prussians could not break free.  

Game 1:
Fardette (Prussian) - 5
Gorriz (French) - 2

Game 2: This time the Prussians began running away immediately, like scared little rabbits.  The French pursued with 2 Cavalry Charges and a pair of Yahtzee kills on foolish Prussians who refused to go into square.  I had hoped they would survive, I only had one good card to use and could not risk losing it to a square random draw.  Finally, the Prussians rallied in the town and charged out to destroy a lone French block, claiming the last banner.

David and I agreed that this battle was very luck dependent.  LGM in game one created a very unbalanced battle, there was simply not time to react.  Thank you David for an enjoyable match and teaching me some Spanish.  "Buena Suerte" in your next match, wherever it may be.

Semi Final 1
401 Schleiz (9 October 1806)
Mark McG (French): 1 banner, 14 blocks lost
Joe (Prussians): 5 banners, 7 blocks lost

Pretty miserable game for the French, started well moving into Schleiz easily, two easy banners. Then the Prussians conducted a Bayonet charge and threw me out. Multiple Infantry combat first cards to thwart my efforts to hold, and French couldn't hit a thing. Meanwhile the Right flank cards were building up, and the Centre was struggling to get cards. The French horse artillery and cavalry eventually came up, but couldn't make much headway.

2 French infantry and 1 cavalry destroyed, and 4 Prussians exited, vs 1 Prussian infantry eliminated.

401 Schleiz (9 October 1806)
Joe (French): 1 banner, 17 blocks lost
Mark McG (Prussians): 5 banners, 8 blocks lost

essentially the same report, French couldn't hit squat. I very nearly conceded on my opening hand of 3 Probes out of 4 cards, and 3 Left section cards and 1 Right.
The main difference was Joe took Schleiz for his banner, and would have won the semi if he put down the garrison.

2 French infantry and 1 cavalry destroyed, and 4 Prussians exited, vs 1 Schleitz banner.

not the worst Exit scenario I have played, but still a luck of the draw in terms of cards.
