Round 2 - 206 EYLAU - 8AM TO NOON (8 FEBRUARY 1807)
Michalxo (French) 7 banners - 35 blocks lost
Klopik (Allies) 6 banners - 30 blocks lost

Commentary
Initial French kamikaze attack on center, and fierce battle there from both sides stopped French enthusiasm and French ran out of steam.
Russian replied with fast cavalry attacks and forcing one of the last remnants of French line infantry to form square on victory point hill hex.
Battle then moved to both flanks and Russian managed to break through French defensive lines and getting cossacks into French village, hoping to
pillage it and gain precious victory point. Desperate French troops, hoping for last final hit, sacrificing every troop possible to get final victory point helped Russians to even the battle. When final French hit came from nowhere and destroyed fresh Russian line infantry when they were attacking attacking infantry in square. Russian got a bit scared and decided to leave the battle.
Very close and interesting battle ended 7-6 for French.

Sadly this result can drop me out of tournament and all the bloody fights with my Old Guards would be vainly

My dice are the hell!

Round 3: 319 Wagram: McDonald's Square

Greg O: French 7 banners won, 36 blocks lost
Klopic: Allies 5 banners won, 27 blocks lost

A tough game, with the French getting hammered early, with a late game rally, with a Light Cav unit sweeping into the backfield to nail a 1 block Austrian CU and then a lone leader to secure the win.

I just rewatched the match. Well...If Klopik had had ignored one hit you cause on his CU, when firing from LN, his CU would have survived and they would battle back with 2 dice and you would have no bonus attack. Pretty interesting, how one "small" error could lead to losing an almost "won" game..

Pretty interesting match too.

Round 2 - 206 EYLAU - 8AM TO NOON (8 FEBRUARY 1807)

Greg O (French) 7 banners - 35 blocks lost
Mark McG (Allies) 6 banners - 26 blocks lost

Commentary: Match started with a painful bombardment from the Russians that hit the French pretty hard, more or less stopping a center infantry assault from the French before it started. The French countered with a crazy Grand Maneuver bringing two artillery, the Old Guard and a Line infantry right up onto the hills. The Russians countered and slaughtered the Old Guard with a rare 16 dice combined arms attack and pushed the incursion off the hills, although suffered damage in the process. The battle progressed with two cav charges by the Russians that hurt the French but in the end the French pulled out a very lucky win by eliminating 3 cav, 3 in, and getting a banner for the left section hill. The poor Russians were stuck at 6 blocks for a while and had several chances to eliminate 1 block infantry units, but the Gods smiled on the French this day...

not quite 16, but 12.. and the OG was dead on the first 6 dice!!

The cards are telling you something when you pick up Cav Charge twice in a row. The cavalry did OK, but not well enough. Losing a Leader on a double Swords didn't help, and we tied at 5-5 for a while. Then the Russians went to 6-5.

I could see the vulnerability of the hill, and held Bayonet Charge against that movement. After 2 artillery shots that went wide on the 1 block fugitive, Greg made his move put a LT on the hill. The Bayonet charge was my only option, but had 2 chances to win the game with that charge, both of which just failed to eliminate the unit. A game of missed chances for the Russians.

Glory is fleeting, but obscurity is forever.

Round 5 118 Ordal Cross
Trout (Allies) 6 Flags 27 Blocks lost
Greg O (French) 4 Flags 23 Blocks lost

A close game, Spanish snipers were able to pick off 2 leaders and their Guerrillas got into the action also. End game had both sides with low units left with the British coming to the rescue.

Round 4 - 114 BARROSA (5 MARCH 1811)
Michalxo (French) 7 banners - 22 blocks lost
Trout (Allies) 3 banners - 35 blocks lost

Commentary
Twice same cards played, French bombardment and Allies Forward (2-2-2) cards gain momentum to Allies to advance pretty unstoppably. After forcing both artillery units back, LGM initiated more movement from Allies and managing to engage both GG's and other allied units in hand to hand combat. Expected result has not been fulfilled and French responded similarly, doing a lot of damage to Allies. Allied reserves just kept coming and soon after, french has no troops in center except last Grenadiers and single units with leader, incapable to start any attack. First initiation of French right flank led to destroying heavily damaged Rifles and taking them out from Barrosa for good this time. Allies were forced back with heavy casualties.

Round 4 -Barrosa

Greg O (French) 7 banners won, 32 blocks lost
nekengren2 (allies) 2 banners won 25 blocks lost

Sorry, Neal didn't save a log and I lost connection so many times, I don't have one either. Ugly fight, Neal had some bad luck, leaving at least 4 French units with 1 block remaining, with the dreaded one hit needed and I get two flags instead sending him out of harms way result over and over. French moved strong on the Plateau and it helped seal the game.
