Round 2 DP05 Hubbarton
Michalxo: Americans, 0 Banners, 26 Blocks Lost
Mark McG: British, 7 Banners, 15 Blocks Lost
British starting hand wasn't great, but a Fire & Hold opening card whittled down the American front line. A brisk exchange of fire ensued, with the British coming off the better 2-0, but three single Block Line headed for the rear.
The Americans consolidated and ralled, whilst the British used their extensive 'Left'cards to move up the Rifle Lights and other Left flankers. Bit perplexed by the Hessan Rifle Light, since I wasn't aware the British used Rifles until after the AWI period. Also used off my 2 Bombard cards to re-position, with an American counterattack frightening my Rifle Lights out of the woods.
At this point I was wondering how to crack the solid American defences, and the Grenadiers on the Right were the key. They drew an American response which roughed up the Grenadiers, but ultimately they prevailed, killing a 3rd American.
The continuing flow of Left cards brought both Rifles into play, who polished off a 4th American in 2 turns.
Finally, with a Bayonet Charge on the Right & Centre-Right, the British saw their chance and charged. A weakened Line fell, and luckily the Leader with him as well (6-0). The other attacks were weak, and did little damage, and no retreats.
At this point Michal went into full assault, hoping for a miracle. His attack went poorly, and the battle back finished it.
