I should properly introduce myself.  My name is Greg.  I worked with Bill J. and others over at 1A Games on the Days of the Fox next wave game. I spent hundreds of hours working on that project designing, playtesting and just overall supporting this great series. Although others got most of the recognition, I was very involved in the day to day workings. I had to leave the just before Days of the Fox NW went to print. (family issues and lack of financial support from 1A). But we wont get into that. :)  Shout out to my buddy William B! :)

My friend and I have decided to continue the revamping of TOI scenarios and also add some of our own in the future.  We are currently working on the Normandy Expansion.
Combined, my friend and I have thousands of hours on this game. We play every week now through the winter.  Its been great fun.  We also have devised a CO-OP version of the game where one side is non player controlled.  This is a very cool system that lets us both be on the same team while taking on the "AI". We are playtesting that system as we go along.  So far its quite the intimidating opponent.

We are glad to see others still keeping this game alive.  I know we will have it for many more years to come.

Greg

Great to meet you and have you here!

I haven't played the game or posted here for about 18 months, but recently finally found time to return. The first time I played ToI was circa 2012, but after a few years (which included a new child and a new job) I returned to it circa 2019 and played it a lot (mostly solitaire) through 2023.

I really, really like this system and truly appreciate the original designers and the dedicated folks who picked it back up during the 1A Games era (including yourself, as it turns out). I own everything, including an original "coffin box" base game + the NW base game and 2 copies of NW Days of the Fox (because I found a fantastic sale, so why not!?). I've also done a lot of work tracking-down and consolidating all official and player-created scenarios, which I have printed and put in three-ring binders.

If I recall correctly, it was through my work tracking-down all the scenarios that I came across Alessandro's posts at Board Game Geek, and he directed me to this fantastic site. I helped him compile some scenarios missing from here. During the first year or so of the COVID lockdown I had a lot of time on my hands and wanted a distraction so I also completed a comprehensive vehicle compilation & re-calibration, which I shared with Alessandro and Willem. Oh, another thing I did with Willem a few years ago was help play-test some of his scenarios and provide some layout and graphical design recommendations.

Anyway, what I appreciate about ToI is that it's in a Goldilocks zone of difficulty between a board game (low) and a miniatures game (more), and it offers so many options for complexity and extensibility with the scenarios, units, special rules, optional rules, and card decks that it never gets old.
