Although I'm a big fan of C&C Napoleonics, I've also been really impressed with Jacobite Rising, which is very nicely nuanced and has generally quick scenarios, surprisingly high variety and a good level of re-playability. I'd say Jacobite Rising is my favourite C&C apart from C&CN, followed by C&C Medieval, then Ancients. I've also tried Memoir 44 (seemed much more simplistic than C&C and I couldn't work out what scale it was supposed to represent) and The Great War (felt like a good trench warfare simulation - pointless attack beaten back with losses = all back to square one plus lots of dead people - but somehow I never got into it).
The gaming group I'm part of has taken time out from our habitual C&CN gaming to play the Jacobite Rising scenarios, and stats are below in case anyone is interested. Each scenarios has been played at least once solo and at least once multi-player. The Average winning margin column shows the % difference between each side's banners at game end, so although Scenario 8 (Clifton) is 100% Government wins, the banner margin was only 30%, so both games were reasonably close, unlike Culloden Flanking Move, which were runaway Govt wins both times. Does anyone else have any stats to share?
