My second match of the day was with General Grondeaux.
Plancenoit P419
Tarheel - Allies - 9 Banners (26 blocks lost)
Grondeaux - French - 7 Banners (37 blocks lost)
This battle was strange. Initial hand for Prussia were all specials except a scout center. And most of these specials were not of much help to start (Bayo, Cav Chg, Fire and Hold, Rally, scout c). So, for lack of anything better to do, went for it and did a Fire and Hold attacking the most advanced French on turn 1. Well, those boys did not get the chance to retreat, but instead were demolished along with the leader. 2 banners turn 1! Next, Prussia drew another not very useful card, so used the Bayo Charge and got mixed results, but did severly weaken the guard artillery. Some unit exchanges took place, but the guard art was removed from board in the shuffle. Well from that point on, it became crazy. The Prussian artillery seemed to be everywhere, picking units off at range until the FR decided enough was enough and maneuvered remaining OG and YG units to the center. They did a Bayo charge to great effect! 7 dice against a full strength Prussian was ugly, and the Prussian LN unit was vaporized. Unfortunately, it was exactly at that time that Prussia had drawn its second Bombard card, and hit the OG unit from range 2 and 3 with ART units in revenge. Ouch. The game soon ended. Prussia had 2 cav charges in hand, one from start of game, but could never really get cards to move anything on the right until the last couple of turns, but by then things were commited in the center. Oh, and it was a terrible day to be a Leader. Leaders took some lead in the arse.
Thanks Grondeaux for playing!
