Historical Background

This sector of space is, and has always been, subject to more meteor occurrences than almost any other sector in this part of the system. The prospect to gain control of the sector and its two planets has, however, once again brought us and the enemy’s fleet back to the sector.

Special Rules

Meteor rules are in effect.
• Task force cards are used in this scenario. The Commonwealth player takes one even-numbered task force card of his choice and the Confederation player takes one odd-numbered task force card of his choice.
• Support vessels are purchased in this scenario. Both faction players purchase 40 points of support vessels.
• Planet control objective rules are in effect for both factions. One victory point is gained for each unit that occupies a planet hex at the start of the player’s turn

Crazy scenario with showers of meteors moving across the map, some slowly, some fast. With the planets setup as they are, they are in the most likely meteor path.

Confederacy was well advanced in collecting planetary VP using transport ships on a planet, but then lost 16VP as a meteor shower passed through. Critical juncture of the game, and the meteor storm resisted 3 attacks of 15 dice in total without a single blast hit. Very unlucky for the Confederates.

We played this with an alternative setup deployment option (Jump Points)

seemed to encourage small fleets, but in retrospect I we had too few fighters (and both had a carrier).
