Round 3: Mark_T (Allies) - EZPickins (French): 504 Göhrde (18 September 1813)
Allied Player 8 banners won 23 blocks lost
French player 4 banners won 22 blocks lost
This was tough for the French in numbers. Few on a hill against many all around. Same command values for both camps and some early successes for the French, although a scarcity of obvious kills, promised a difficult approach for the Allies on the entrenched french. However the Allies had some punch on the flanks, and especially the Allied Right, where the Rocket battery was very efficient hampered the french, with a INF stuck in a square. And two relatively easy temp points in cities for the Allies.
French was low on center cards, where the action had to be directed eventually, and with a couple of Forced Marches the Allies could kill of some french stragglers and secure the win. Before this there was some aggressive moves of French cavalry, and it was powerful but also somewhat of a death trap. Many Russian LNs had to die before the Prussians could clean up the fray.
It was indeed a combined Allied force that succeeded here, against a desperately fighting surrounded french force, who did all but just came too short with resources.
